Family Friendly Resort
West Crooked Lake Resort offers relaxation and enjoyment for the entire family. Our Park Rapids family resort, in the Paul Bunyan State Forest, is surrounded by towering pines with a view of the lake from all cabins. West Crooked Lake Resort is located in the heart of the beautiful Nevis lakes area of northern Minnesota. We are approximately 7 miles from Nevis and 16 miles from Park Rapids.
Fun in the Sun!
Come enjoy the sandy beach, swim in the clear water, play on the Rave water trampoline, or read a book in the shade. West and Middle Crooked Lakes are part of the famous Mantrap chain of lakes – the very heart of Northern Minnesota’s finest fishing country. Fish to catch in West Crooked Lake include Northern, Walleye, Bass and Panfish. You can fish right off the dock at the resort or venture out to the many inlets on this quiet lake. Often you will find yourself enjoying our lakes tranquil beauty all alone with not another boat in sight.
Our History
West Crooked Lake Resort was originally known as Timberlost Resort and Campground. The resort and campground was owned by my parents, Jerrold and Doris Skadberg family for over 30 years. Our family has been coming from North Dakota to the Park Rapids area for their family vacations for decades and we came to love the trees, lakes and wildlife. In 1979, my parents decided to purchase Timberlost and to make Minnesota their permanent home. Several of their nine children, including myself, Susan, were involved over the years in helping them operate the resort. In 2003, I purchased a portion of Timberlost Resort and established West Crooked Lake Resort and constructed a new cabin and remodeled existing cabins with a northern decor to welcome all. I became familiar with the resort business through the years of helping my family with Timberlost Resort and decided to continue the resort tradition that my parents had started. Prior to purchasing the resort, I was an owner of a software development company.
I enjoy getting away from my Windsor, CO residence to relax at our Up North resort with my girls, Nia and Tomiko.
